Plongez dans l&rsquo;aventure de ces bus publics gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des images d&rsquo;\u00e9poque.<\/mark> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>En ce 30 septembre 1953, Yverdon-les-Bains entre dans l\u2019histoire de la mobilit\u00e9 durable. L\u2019inauguration de deux gyrobus attire la foule sur la place Pestalozzi. Le Journal d\u2019Yverdon ne manque pas de le souligner: c\u2019est un \u00e9v\u00e9nement mondial qui se joue ce jour-l\u00e0 dans la ville du Nord Vaudois. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Test\u00e9 depuis un peu moins de trois ans dans les rues du chef-lieu, ce nouveau mode de transport entre officiellement en service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019un bus \u00e9lectrique peut transporter des passagers \u00e0 son bord sans d\u00e9pendre d\u2019une ligne de contact. D\u00e9velopp\u00e9s par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 schwytzoise Oerlikon, ces v\u00e9hicules sont propuls\u00e9s par un moteur dont l\u2019\u00e9nergie est fournie par un \u00abvolant d\u2019inertie\u00bb, un disque d\u2019une tonne et demie, lanc\u00e9 \u00e0 tr\u00e8s grande vitesse. Elle n\u00e9cessite de fr\u00e9quents arr\u00eats de trois \u00e0 quatre minutes afin de recharger le volant d&rsquo;inertie. Les usagers s\u2019en d\u00e9sint\u00e9ressent rapidement. La m\u00e9t\u00e9o rigoureuse du Nord vaudois ach\u00e8ve de plomber l\u2019aventure: particuli\u00e8rement froid, l\u2019hiver 1956 est marqu\u00e9 par des avaries en s\u00e9rie. Trois ans apr\u00e8s leur lancement officiel, les gyrobus p\u00e9clotent et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qui les exploite est en grande difficult\u00e9. En 1960, ils sont d\u00e9finitivement mis sur la touche au profit de trois autocars Saurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reste toutefois la fiert\u00e9 pour la cit\u00e9 d\u2019avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 pionni\u00e8re en mati\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9lectromobilit\u00e9. Et comme l\u2019histoire aime se r\u00e9p\u00e9ter, Yverdon vient de remettre \u00e7a: depuis le 10 d\u00e9cembre 2022, des bus d\u2019un genre nouveau desservent la ligne 602, qui relie Montagny au technopole Y-Parc, via l\u2019h\u00f4pital et la gare d\u2019Yverdon. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 TRAVYS vient de mettre en circulation quatre bus \u00e9lectriques. Leur particularit\u00e9? Ils fonctionnent sur batterie et n\u2019ont donc pas besoin de ligne de contact pour se d\u00e9placer.
